- Reorgs don't have to suck
Reorganizing teams can be necessary to adapt to changing priorities and goals, but they are often dreaded by employees. Sara recently reorganized the Product team at Oscar Health to better focus on improving the member experience. While the reorg process was difficult, it resulted in a new structure that aligns Product teams around member journeys instead of business units. She shares lessons learned: engage all affected parties early, communicate thoroughly but avoid oversharing too soon, frame the changes properly, allow for two-way communication, and acknowledge that changes take time to settle in. Reorganizations, when handled well, are a sign of progress and learning.
