Reorganizations are necessary for companies to adapt and grow, but they are often poorly executed. To succeed, reorganizations should give top performers new challenges to reinvigorate them, clearly communicate the rationale behind the changes, engage personally with affected teams to preserve loyalty, and be implemented slowly after key stakeholders are informed. When done well, reorganizations can refocus a company and its leadership; when done poorly, they can cause disruption and loss of talent.
